Two Guys Guesthouse Nov./ Dec Newsletter.

Hello everybody, I hope you are sitting comfortably and ready for another thrilling saga in the trials and tribulations of the owner of a gay guesthouse.

First off, I hope everybody saw the report and pictures about the White Party we had in Sunee Plaza 15 Nov.

If not email me and I will resend the pages.

A big thank you goes to Guy Singer for the time and effort he put into making the event,

Without him I doubt that it would have been the success that it was.

Dressing Up

Two Guys got all gussied up in an effort to win the best dressed business competition.

The boys worked all day blowing up loads of white balloons, laying out white table cloths and draping the front desk white, Alas The Crazy Dragon won with a very good white winter theme that included fake snow on the floor.

The party was a huge success although a few things got screwed up,

but considering this was a first attempt and everybody had a very good time,

Most importantly Sunee got a lot of good positive publicity for a change.

There are plans afoot to have more parties and the SPI group are in the process of deciding When and what to celebrate.

Strangely enough I got an email from an old hand bemoaning the fact that

Sunee is not the seedy run down place it used to be and he will not be back.

Just goes to show you that you will never please everybody.

I have been making a few cosmetic changes at Two Guys.

One is the addition of spotlights for the pictures that hang on the café wall, it gives the area

A softer feel to it at night time, before the lighting was white fluorescent which gave a institutional feel to the

Room. Eventually the bar area will get done over once I have worked out the new lay out.

Business and Free Drinks

We have been full all month and will be for Jan and Feb. I have also taken bookings for the month of May

Many of the bars are reporting more customers turning up and the owners are starting to remember how to

Put money in the bank and not take it out. One even bought me a free beer!

Talking about free drinks, I was at the Balkan Express a couple of nights ago visiting Duck the owner.

His mother was over from Croatia for a visit and had brought with her some vacuum packed authentic Croatian food and Croatian brandy.

I was invited round to try the food and sample the brandy

I had one glass after the meal which was delicious, the brandy was very nice but was not very strong I thought.

As the night wore on Duck pressed two more glasses on me between rounds and I thought no big deal

Until It came time to leave that is, and as Referee Rod says WOW , It took two attempts to get out of the chair.

I am surprised I got home without falling down. Mike from LaCage bar saw me passing on the way home and told me I was looking quite merry (read pissed).

Duck was quietly amused and said later on I not drink that, it make me crazy.

Handy Men and Mechanics

For anybody that has stayed here any length of time these two incidents might resonate with you.

The first was a ceiling fan in one of the rooms stopped working, after removing it and checking all the switches and wiring to make sure all was Ok, the fan was sent out to an electrician for inspection.

It was returned having been checked out and fixed (good I was told) so back up it went and switched on, still did not work. I called in the same electrician who had said it was ok to look at the fan in place ( buggered if I was pulling it apart again), after half an hour the electrician told me fan kaput need new one.

The second incident was our coffee machine, which decided not to make coffee any more, so we called the supplier and had him Send the “mechanic”, “machine need to go to Bangkok for repair” he tells us, we give you replacement while yours is being replaced.

Good service I thought.

It took 21 days for our machine to be returned, during which time the replacement broke down three times, one of the problems was the on off switch was not working, so the mechanic jammed toothpicks into the switch to make sure that the switch stayed closed.

Alas that did not work either as we had to call them out again after that. The final instructions given for the loaner machine was do not switch it off.

We did eventually get our machine back with a whopping bill.

We are looking for a new mechanic, Martin from Forest bar has told me about a motorbike taxi driver whose uncle fixes them, do you think it is worth a try? cant be any worse than the last effort.

Mr. Pattaya Pride (Body Beautiful)

I had the privilege of being invited to be a Judge at the PGF Mr. body beautiful contest held in Boyz Boyz Boyz

The decision to attend was not difficult one to make, I knew I would get to have interesting conversations with all the young men on an intellectual basis and discover what their hopes and dreams for the future were.
It had nothing at all to with looking at all the dazzling smiling faces, the rippling well toned smooth skinned bodies, bubble butts and muscular thighs.

Fellow Judges were Poo La May and Dolly John, both done up in their best party frocks.

We had to Judge 27 Contestants initially; and were not allowed to use a tape measure to compare any outstanding or significant features, so we just had to go by rule of thumb.

The 27 were whittled down to 10 after they removed their shirts and did a stroll past in their sprayed on white shorts.

I was told by a fellow Judge that she noticed that a number of the boys had forgot to put on their underwear and she would be taking down their particulars.

What are their numbers I gasped, totally shocked, I wanted to confirm this fact before taking things in hand.

Anyway the ten were then reduced to three with much discussion among the Judges,

"but he has to stay in, just look at that huge SMILE he has", "but what about number ** you can plainly see he is a real man, no silicone, no botox" or was that buttocks And so it went.

Eventually we picked the three top contestants (no pun intended), when the winner was announced the audience gave a large round of applause so I think we managed to please most people with our decisions.

Just for the record I did not ask for any contestant’s phone numbers, regardless of what gets printed in the local rags. They were all given voluntarily

Cell /Mobil phones

About two weeks ago a customer that comes in for breakfast was complaining that he was getting about 15 Texts sent to him every day.

As they were in Thai he did not know what they were about, he also noticed that he seemed to be spending a lot more money topping up his phone.

After the two weeks of this he eventually he got that pissed off he went to the Pattaya Information Center at the Avenue shopping Mall and asked them what he could do about stopping this nuisance.

Once they had a look at the phone they told him he was subscribed to a ring tone download service,

here is the rub.

It cost him 37.4 Baht of every 100 Baht that he loaded on to his phone and every time they sent him an SMS It cost another 8 Baht.

He asked the people at the information center to tell the company to cease and desist, but was informed that it would take six weeks before they could do so.

He then informed the company that he was going to the police and charge them with theft, surprise, surprise, The calls ceased.

One can only surmise that a Thai friend got hold of his phone and wanted some new ring tones.

The moral of the story, If you are getting lots of SMS messages find out quick what they are about and

Secondly don’t let your phone out of your sight.

New Act In Pattaya

Edith Crepp at LaCage

A brand new act first time in Thailand was put on at the Mikes Bar LaCage

As a favor to Mike the owner, Edith from Sweden performed a one night stand.

She interacted with the audience telling jokes and exchanging banter much to the amusement of

Everybody. And showed herself to be A very polished performer who actually sang all the songs herself (no lip sync)

All the punters and staff had a enjoyable evening, So much that we are hoping that she will return in the near future.

Photo Swiped from Printer Graham PG report who got it from Mike at Bar LaCage

Coach

One of the bars I frequent have requested me to be a coach to train their staff for athletic competitions

This came about when I first noticed some strapping young men roaming aimlessly around the stage.

I called them over and asked them if they were interested in training for sports activities.

I also explained that I used to coach young sprinters so I was experienced in handling vigorous youthful sportsmen.

I received an enthusiastic Maybe, depends what you have in mind.

I then explained all that was required of them was to sprint around the stage in a relay race and instead of handing over a baton they had to hand over a piece of clothing that they were wearing prior to the sprint.

At the start only one person partook. He ran round the stage 3 times, waving the only piece of clothing

he had had on above his head to the hoots, hollers and screams of the other staff.

He was very happy with his tip and the other staff were quite envious of the training he had received.

Next time I entered the establishment I was approached by many excited staff asking me if they also could partake in the training runs, I managed to organize a relay of three on this occasion

I had to explain to them that they have to pace themselves and no go to fast around the stage lest they have someone pull a muscle or tire themselves out.

We have now set up a weekly training session but have had to limit the number of participants because of present budget restraints.

All donations gratefully accepted toward the training, of round the stage relay Olympic trials.

Bars and Happenings.
Culled from Nicky's Gay Pattaya and PG Report

Latest Gossip is that Marina Inn has a new owner, what his plans for it are not known yet,

Hopefully he will do something with the pool area.

Eros Club has a new owner , nobody knows who they are yet.

The old Legun Bar is now a private club run by the owner of the Don Plaza hotel,

it is slated to be for the use of the hotel customers and for private functions.

The new Enjoy Karaoke bar is reported to be gaining in popularity with the bar boys

working in Sunee, not many Farangs appear to be visiting, prices are a bit high for them.

A new restaurant in Soi day Night, the old Renoirs restaurant is being refurbished,

Notice on the door says it is to be called the Montechristo, opening soon.

I have just found out that the X-ray club has been refurbished and renamed the Fashion Club.

It is now a two story and very large club I am told.

NAB still seems to be the favorite gay club of choice for the Thai Boys.

On the subject of Clubs, The Dave night club now has a weekly event where they load up three or four ½ ton trucks with scantily clad dancers performing in the back of the trucks. They drive slowly round Sunee and the adjoining area. It is a very good free show.

The ambulance services are doing a very good trade at this time as Many Farangs have to be resuscitated and given saline drips after running behind the trucks drooling and trying to give or get the boys phone numbers.

Just to finish, I see Christmas decorations and trees starting to sprout around Pattaya

Which means that it is the season to be more Jolly. On that note I wish everybody

The ability to enjoy Christmas and New Year in whatever fashion is their want.

As long as they don’t spoil it for anybody else.

Take care , Regards John

This is a German translation of the White party Report, seemingly the Google translation

Did it less than justice.

Translation By Fred Lagache to whom I am thankful.

If anybody would like to do translations of the newsletters I would welcome their input.

Bericht:

A Whiter Shade of Pale

Was waren die Highlights?

Man sagte mir, jede andere kam an zweiter Stelle.

Gut gemacht, Sunee Plaza, du bist erwachsen geworden.

SPI White Party in Sunee

A WHITER SHADE OF PALE
On 27th May, 2009 a website was born. Two venues in Sunee Plaza had got together and the third said they'd stay in if the membership grew to 6. Well, it did get to 6, in fact today it stands at 30. And on 15th November, these 30 bars, guesthouses, restaurants and service places showed the world Sunee Plaza really can do it when it tries. As a P.R. exercise, it was just about perfect. They've just had a party to end all parties. Yes, some things didn't go quite to plan, and over the next few weeks no doubt they will be looking at those, BUT EVERYTHING THAT MATTERED DID GO TO PLAN. The 30 places and probably over 200 boys decked out in white balloons and white everything else. From snow on the floor, to streamers in the fans; from spray paint in the hair to white smoke rings, Sunee turned white for a night. It's hard to estimate the number in a crowd, but at a rough count well over 2,000 people had a great evening. I'm sorry if I run out of superlatives, but I've got such a good feeling from the event, I find it hard to put into mere words.
What were the highlights?
So many new faces visiting Sunee. Many I'd never seen before.
So many people together, wishing Sunee well and having a wonderful party.
WHITE, WHITE, WHITE EVERYWHERE. And a special mention to the bar which won the prize for best decorated - Krazy Dragon. I was told everyone else came second!
The surprise fireworks and the sound of the crowd watching them.
All the energy and enthusiasm from all the dancing boys.
The two baby angels from Eros.
Comments like "It's amazing how so many bars are working together at last, including those of so many different nations."
The parties that went on long into the night.
The comments from the bar owners, which included "This is the busiest I've seen Sunee in 7 years", and "I've had my best night EVER, by a long way, and I've been here 4 years".
Ad hoc comments and things - too many to mention - but like "It's Ken's round" being shouted through a megaphone.
Friends, old and new chatting, laughing and having a wonderful night.
But above all, to me, the smiles on everyone's faces, from the boys to every customer I saw.
I'd really like to thanks the people who put this night together, from the committee who met relentlessly and crafted the event, to the bars who grouped together and had faith in an area many had written off, to every boy who blew up a balloon, danced on a stool, or carried a drink to a customer with a smile. And in a lot of cases (probably too many) that customer was me.

Well done Sunee Plaza, you really have Come of Age. I can't wait for the next party?
An admirer.

October/Nov. Newsletter from Two Guys Guesthouse
A very Jolly Good morning to you today I hope have a lot of interesting scribbling for you.
It has been a busy end of the month with all the Birthday/ Welcoming and Halloween parties going on
Quite a few of the bars Sunee Plaza had Halloween parties and the boys enjoyed dressing up in their ghoul costumes,
you can see a report on them on the SPI web site (www.suneeplaza.info) See Attached photo
I was at Mikes Bar Lacage which won the best decorated bar in Sunee, the boys were dressed in a variety of flimsy outfits

New boy Ton wore Kimono and all he had on underneath the kimono was very skimpy underwear.
How do I know you ask, well after a few drinks he was being quite naughty and flashing everybody.

One poor customer almost choked on his G & T when he did it to him mid drink.
One customer arrived at the bar just before the drawing for the raffle and as an afterthought bought some tickets.
he ended up winning three prizes, a bottle of Sangsom, a bottle of wine, and a box of Tetley Tea bags.

We had Mr. Ting Tong (of Ting Tongs Gay Thailand Board) himself staying for three weeks and there was quite a party at MMB which raised lots of money for charity.
The highlight of the night was Mr. Ting Tong and Gaybutton getting gunked, it was disgusting but lots of fun. see attached photo
See also TingTongs Gay Thailand board (www.gaytingtong.com) for more details Under Ting Tong party pics on the Pattaya news section

Wan of Wan's Bar had a birthday party recently and I think it must have been the biggest this year so far.
The crowd was so big that it overflowed next door and engulfed the Balkan Express.

Duc of the Balkan Express was very generous in allowing Wan to use his space and also allowing him to set up a table with the free nosh in front of his bar.

The entertainment for the night included Fire Juggling / Eating acts
and a performance by Lady Boys on a Thailand Cultural theme , all were dressed in period costumes and looked quite stunning.

In fact, the festival is of Brahmin origin in which people offer thanks to the Goddess of the water. Thus, by moonlight, Last Night was the Loy Krathong festival and we all finished early and headed to the beach.

"Loy" means "to float" and a "Krathong" is a lotus-shaped vessel made of banana leaves. The Krathong usually contains a candle, three joss-sticks, some flowers and coins.

people light the candles and joss-sticks, Loy Krathong Day make a wish and launch their Krathongs on canals, rivers or even small ponds.

It is believed that the Krathongs carry away sins and bad luck, and the wishes that have been

made for the new year due to start. Indeed, it is the time to be joyful and happy as the sufferings are floated away.

A Beauty Queen Contest is an important part of the festival and for this occasion

it is called "The Noppamas Queen Contest". Noppamas is a legendary figure from the Sukhothai period.

Old documents refer to her as the chief royal consort of a Sukhothai Kng named "Lithai". Noppamas was

said to have made the first decorated Krathong to float in the river on the occasion.

Mike from Bar Lacage organized baht busses and we took all his boys and their friends with us (plus a few bottles)
and our very pretty Krathongs which were made for us by the boys in the bar.
We headed to Dongtang beach where we sent our floats (Krathonhs) out to sea and made wishes for good luck in Life and Love
It is a serious matter when you go to float your Krathong, I had to provide a nail clipping, a lock of hair and 9 Baht in coins (why 9 Baht I still do not know)
I was approached by a young boy of about 10 who offered to take my Krathong and release it in deep water for me,
the cost was 20 Baht payable on his safe return to dry land.
I said OK and watched him wade out chest deep in the water and push off the Krathong but not before he pocketed the 9 baht in coins on the float.
The young entrepreneur must have made a killing that night, I watched him working the beach all evening and into the early morning.
A Thai friend said that he probably made more money that night than he would all year.

After that we relaxed had a few drinks and then sent the candle kites soaring off into the moonlit night sky. It was quite a sight to behold.
The kite consists of a paper bag with a heating element wired at the open bottom
I am told that the heating element is a sliced toilet roll steeped in paraffin and then covered in wax
See the attached photo of the candle kite (Photo courtesy of the Hobo Traveler .com)
It was quite a romantic evening, sitting in a deckchair with handsome young men all around me,watching the kites floating away in the darkness
and listening the sound of the waves lapping on the shore, while imbibing in a cool drink .
( and you wonder why we live in Pattaya)
Next was the start of the fire works which we purchased on the beach.
They consisted of all sorts of rockets, some that just shot off into the sky, others that had sound effects. one was almost like a mortar shell and you actually
felt the pressure blast when it went off.

The one that I liked most shot about 100 M into the air had a shell burst effect, they were packaged into a 9 unit block.
Each unit had a different colour and were set up to off one after the other each preceded by a big bang

Then it was time to party on the beach with the boys
There was music and many of the boys were up dancing in the sand. When the Issan music started
there was squeals of delight and they all jumped up and started gyrating their hips in time with the music.

What is very nice just now, is the fashion for the boys to wear their pants just about at crotch level
and the more they drank the more they danced and the lower their pants got.

We finished early by Thai boy standards at about 01.30 and headed back to town.
We had two Baht buses on the way to the beach but could only get one for the return leg.
That meant that I had a boy sitting on my knee for the journey back.
He was very restless and kept squirming around, moving his rear from side to side for most of the journey back.
I am sure he was doing that for ulterior motives, as he was glancing round at me frequently and giving me mischievous looks.
I still have not figured out what he was up to! Can anybody enlighten me?

Sept Newsletter

A very wet good morning to everybody, Pattaya is just catching the tail end of the big
storm that hit the Philippines and Vietnam, fortunately Thailand received less rain than
was expected and no real damage has been done.
Once again we at Two Guys have been kept steady with guests coming from Australia,
Sweden, Ireland, England , Wales, Germany, France, Norway and Switzerland. The joint
venture with the Polish company has not panned out, we could not agree on a few issues
and I felt that everything was tilted in their favor.
I manage to speak to many people in the run of a month and am constantly surprised by
the diversity of work and jobs that they do or have done. One customer a very elderly and
normally quiet gentleman who I would have pegged as a school teacher told me that he
was a rally driver/navigator. He brought in photos the first cars he drove a very early MG
and an Austin Healy Bug Eyed Sprite.
Another person just mentioned in the passing that he used to be an Antiques dealer in London,
he started when he was 13 years old on a stall and finessed that into two shops over the years.
He said that he went for turnover rather than a high mark up, he could make 200 pounds out of
50 in a month by keeping his prices low compared to other dealers. Normally in the trade
people would sit on am item for 3 to 4 months before it was sold, he tried to shift it in a couple of days.
We recently had an airline employee stop by on a short break, he presented us with a very nice bottle
of French sparkling wine which we opened and shared with everybody when Aek came
back from a short holiday in Chaing Mai. I gave a small glass to an elderly customer who
as it turned out does not normally drink, when he left he was walking a rather weavy line line on his way home.
Aek was invited to Chaing Mai for a week by a European friend of his who was over for a holiday.
He said that he lives in Europe all alone and that it was a dream come true to have a nice young
man's company all to himself for a week. This was the first break has had in two and a half years
and he really enjoyed it.
He came back with presents for all the staff and friends, and as is the Thai way he had lots of food
and snacks from Chaing Mai for everybody to try.
News from Sunee
After a lot of rumors it appears that the only bar closing is Villa Rouge, It is to be a 30 Day closure
and again rumor is that the owner will be doing some refurbishment during the down time.
All the boys have moved to the Playboys club (Look Boys)
Balkan Express and Uniform bars have taken on new partners and money has and is being
spent on upgrading the bars and kitchens.
Balkan express has introduced an all you can eat buffet for 250 B, I especially like his kebabs and spicy sausages.
Violet House is to reopen soon as a bar/Karaoke, not known who the new owner is yet.
Still waiting for Jimmy James to reopen
Preparations are now well underway for the Nov 15 SPI Street Party, check out the web site for updated

Aug/Sept newsletter

Hello Everybody, I hope you are all well and send my best wishes wherever you are.

Again its time for the monthly report, it seems that I did the last one only last week,

Time moves so quickly when you are enjoying yourself.

Firstly we have a new member of staff called Geng a very friendly person who likes to laugh a lot

He also gets on well with the rest of the staff.

I have finally settled on the new afternoon menu, with home made pies, bread, scones , muffins, ice cream and Banana Ice cream cake. If you are interested I have posted it on the web site.

www. twoguysguesthouse.com on the café page.

I have to thank customers here and at the LaCage bar for being brave enough to try the new items and give me their feed back, mostly positive and nobody had to go to hospital.

I have been surprised by the volume of business this month, it was a lot better than I expected and by the looks of things it is getting better in the coming months. I think the new SPI web site is helping and some of the bars are saying that their business has increased over last year.

We had an end of the month beach party at the Bar LaCage, If you turned up in your beach wear you got a free Tequila slammer, the crowd was small but boisterous especially when the boys got to dancing on the bar in their Speedos. A fun night was had by all.

People last month came from Australia, England, Malaysia, Hong Kong, New Zealand, France, Russia and Austria. Mostly new customers who found us on the Internet, also I have had a Gay tour company in Poland asking if I would like to do a joint venture with them, this I will have to think about.

I had a couple of customers asking about Golfing while they were here, so I did some research and found

One place that arranges a daily trip to a course ( different course each day). They arrange transport to and from Pattaya and post all the prices for transport, caddies, golf cart, green fees and club rental. All you have to do is book a couple of days in advance and then show up on time for your game.

In my research I went into a travel agent and asked if they did anything about golfing, the lady said yes and went away and did photocopying of a brochure which she said was about 1-1/2 hour away but very good place.

When I looked at the paper she gave me I saw a theme park which had many things , so I asked her just to be sure , do they have GOLFING, no she said , I thought you wanted DOLPHINS, which were the main attraction at the theme park, needless to say I continued my research.

Another amusing tale that happened here was a new customer checked in (name withheld to protect the confused) I gave him the key to room 3 which is on the second floor, he thought he was in the large room on the third floor and went to it.

He came back down somewhat embarrassed and said there is a naked man in the room.

Both Aek and I looked at each other thinking we have a stowaway. When Aek went to investigate he found that

The new customer had gone to room 5 on the third floor, where he found that guest who had not bothered to lock his door sitting at his laptop in the altogether!

The Pattaya Boys hairstyles appear to be changing, they are now going for a smooth combed over look with a lock of hair hanging down one side. We had a discussion in the local bar about it and came to the conclusion that the boys can no longer afford 100 -150 B every night for the spiky style that was fashionable until recently.

Happenings in Sunee.

Eros the new club in the Marine Plaza is going quite well, reasonable drinks and staff.

Happy Boys has opened again and also Joined the SPI group

Look boys closed then opened again as Playboys then closed, will keep you posted.

Sundance has opened again under new management, I have not been in there yet, but will give a report once I have.

The SPI group had a monthly meeting and members decided to comment on the positive things that has happened in the 100 Days since the group has come together.

Here’s what some said

3 Bars in the SPI group have reported takings greater or much greater than last year - one is reporting figures double last year!

1 Bar said they have made many new good friends in the last 100 days from bar owners they never knew before and have had many new customers.

1 Bar said it was nice that bar owners were all talking to each other and in these hard times just to still be in business was good news.

1 place said it was great meeting like minded business owners and sharing Ideas.

1 guesthouse said his customers were saying that they appreciate being introduced and welcomed in new bars and interacting with new people.

1 place said it was great to see so many old customers coming back from 2008 and coming back to Pattaya and Sunee Plaza.

We all know Sunee has its faults but It is nice to see some people trying to do something positive for the area.

No doubt there will be the usual Moaning Minnies finding fault with the effort.

Greetin a word commonly used in Scotland to denote crying.

I often describe these Moaning Minnies as Christmas Cards, Why ? because they are always greeting, TA DA

Sept 15 here are a few promotions in some of the Bars,

Krazy Dragon is holding a glow night, (see video on u-tube)

Mike @ La Cage is doing an Elvis night, with a one off impersonator. He has also given advance notice to his holding a week long celebration to the Munich beer festival with Premium German beers and Wines also traditional German food.

Duc’s Bar is doing a Quiz night

Also many bars are offering drinks promotions in an attempt to lure customers into the bar.

Thanks to Nicky’s Gay Pattaya and the SPI group for some of the information

New Afternoon Menu

Hi Everybody, I hope you are all well.
I have finally got the new afternoon menu together.
This has been done after many trials and taste testings
By Friends and customers at the Guesthouse.

I have gone for simple good fare and all baked items are made in house as is the Ice Cream and Ice Cream cake.

The menu will be updated from time to time with new items
as I find out what customers preferences are.

I am off now to have some Irish soda bread with strong cheddar cheese and a refreshing cup of Tea.
Take Care, John

Double Birthday Party

I has a busy night last night attending Firstly Referee Rods party at Mikes Bar LaCage
where they served wonderful Pork Pies and Ice Cream cake (made by a master baker from secret recipes) among other well prepared food. An Added bonus was the appearance of three new staff. A good crowd attended to wish Rod well, he was certainly enjoying himself mixing with all the guests.

The Other Party was Ian's at Memories Music Bar where many people attended.
Ian laid on good food and also had the Beer Lao dancers and Crazy Dragon Dancers performing (Not at the same time). Many of the other local bar owners turned up as well to wish Ian a Happy Birthday
